A quick look around Kirkby gravel pits in blustery conditions was worthwhile when 2 Red Kites turned up at 1100 hours and hung around for about an hour and a half. Every pass over the reserve produced huge flocks of gulls taking to the air. Other notables were 1 Great-crested Grebe, 1 Goldeneye, c1000 Black-headed Gulls and a fly through from a Peregrine Falcon.
