Nocton Fen, Lincolnshire. 3 January 2012

A visit to Nocton Fen boosted my year list with notables between 1330 and 1400 hours being 2 Grey Partridge, 15 Red-legged Partridge, 1 Stock Dove, 8 Whooper Swans, 6 Bewick Swans, 86 Mute Swans, 2 Pink-footed Geese, 50 Fieldfare, 70 Golden Plover amongst 100 Lapwing. Then whilst going through Wasps Nest there was 1 Green Woodpecker, 6 Red-legged Partridge and 1 Kestrel. At Neville Wood between 1415 and 1500 hours the notables were 2 Treecreeper, 2 Coal Tit, 1 Nuthatch and 1 Goldcrest.

A return back to Nocton Fen at 1530 hours to witness 1 male Hen Harrier coming into roost was a nice finish to an afternoon of blustery conditions.
