Strumble Head, Pembrokeshire. 17 December 2011

A day spent seawatching at Strumble Head was very productive thanks to two Pembrokeshire birders, Adrian and Paul. Prior to arriving at the Seawatch point, I called in at the flagpoles where there was 6 Great Crested Grebes, 30 Oystercatchers, 9 Turnstones, 1 Redshank, 1 Curlew and 1 Peregrine Falcon harassing the waders.
From 1000 to 1500 hours at Strumble Head Seawatching post, I observed and noted 1 juvenile Pomarine Skua, 5 Gannet, 2 Black-throated Diver, 12 Red-throated Diver, 1 Great Northern Diver, 2 Scaup, 29 Common Scoter, 1 Puffin, 1 Wigeon, 1 Grey Phalarope, 12 Little Gulls, 3 Shag, 1 Raven, 1 Chough, 1 Fulmar and 1 Grey Plover. Good numbers of Kittiwakes and auks were also observed passing.

Back at the flagpoles, 3 Ringed Plover, 7 Great Crested Grebes and 1 Mediterranean Gull amongst the Black-headed Gulls were observed.
