Falkland Skua. 7 November 2011

With another visit to the Rookery at Albermarle on West Falkland, Skuas were the target and I was not disappointed with 20 observed. With so many friends back in Lincolnshire and Pembrokeshire I thought I would use this post for the Skuas alone, knowing they would be appreciated in their splendour. All are Falkland Skua (S. antarcticus).
I thought this one above was good to compare against a sub adult Kelp Gull.

I believe the one above may already have had a Gentoo fledgling look at the material in the foreground.

The above was taken by me with a Nikon D1x that had an ED 80-200 mm lens instead of my usual point and shoot Kodak Z740.

Another post will follow that has other species observed as well as Falkland Skua video footage.
